Mastercard Sells Entire 4.31% Pine Labs Stake for Rs 933.5 Crore

Global payments giant Mastercard has exited fintech company Pine Labs by selling its entire 4.31% stake through a bulk deal worth Rs 933.5 crore on Tuesday.

According to bulk deal data available on the BSE, Mastercard Asia/Pacific Pte. Ltd. sold 4.97 crore equity shares at Rs 187.75 per share, fetching approximately Rs 933.57 crore.

The shares were acquired by a group of domestic and global institutional investors. ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company emerged as the largest buyer, acquiring 93.1 lakh shares worth Rs 174.8 crore.

Societe Generale purchased 87.7 lakh shares for Rs 164.65 crore, while Citigroup Global Markets Singapore acquired 66.7 lakh shares worth Rs 125.2 crore.

Other buyers included BNP Paribas Arbitrage, Goldman Sachs, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund, Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund and Susquehanna Pacific.

The transaction follows a series of stake sales by Pine Labs’ early investors. Earlier this month, Alpha Wave sold almost its entire 3.11% stake for around Rs 550 crore. Actis had also offloaded shares worth Rs 522 crore across two deals in June earlier this year.

Financially, Pine Labs reported a 20% year-on-year growth in operating scale to Rs 737 crore in Q1 FY26, while its profit jumped fourfold to Rs 20 crore during the quarter.

As at 11:08 AM today, Pine Labs’ shares were trading at Rs 194.35 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), giving the company a total market capitalisation of Rs 22,425 crore ($2.36 billion).
