Flipkart Picks Up Minority Stake in TravClan to Expand International Travel Offerings

Flipkart has picked up a minority stake in travel technology platform TravClan as it looks to strengthen its international travel offerings through Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The investment will help Flipkart strengthen its international travel supply and expand the holiday packages available to customers across Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel. TravClan operates a B2B travel platform with direct supplier listings across domestic and international destinations.

TravClan’s technology platform enables more than 15,000 travel agents to customise and book real-time packages, hotels and activities. The platform also provides 24/7 on-ground customer support.

Through the partnership, Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel will gain access to TravClan’s partner network, technology and destination operations. This will enable the two platforms to offer a wider range of international holiday packages along with on-ground assistance.

Nishant Verman, SVP, Corporate Development and Partnerships, Flipkart, said the investment will strengthen the company’s ability to offer international holiday packages while deepening its travel capabilities.

TravClan cofounder and CEO Arun Bagaria said India is becoming one of the largest outbound travel markets and that the partnership with Flipkart will help the company take affordable travel products to more Indian travellers.

The funding will support investments in global supply, technology and destination expansion as TravClan scales its platform. The company will also expand its teams across business development, engineering and destination operations.

The deal comes shortly after Flipkart Ventures backed AI startups Alive and Keploy in September. Alive focuses on AI-powered lifestyle experiences, while Keploy develops AI-driven software testing tools.

The latest investment adds to Flipkart’s recent investments across technology and adjacent businesses as the company expands its presence beyond its core ecommerce operations.
