Origin Raises $20 Mn Led by Accel and Zacua Ventures

Construction robotics startup Origin has raised $20 Mn (around Rs 189 Cr) in a funding round co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures, marking its emergence from stealth mode.

The round also saw participation from Unilazer Ventures, Schema Ventures and Z21. Angel investors from Anduril, Skild AI, 1X and Tesla also participated in the fundraise. As part of the investment, Zacua Ventures founding partner Vivin Hegde has joined Origin’s board as a director.

Origin said the fresh capital will primarily be used to deploy its flagship OG-1 robot and build a fleet of construction robots. A portion of the funds will also support large-scale pilots with customers in the US and Europe, along with exploring new use cases for its robots.

“We think of Origin as a time machine for construction, helping crews complete work faster while moving the industry toward autonomous job sites. Wall finishing and painting are only our starting trades; our ambition is to automate the full range of interior trades so contractors can build faster with consistent quality,” said Origin cofounder and CEO Yogesh Ghaturle.

Founded in 2025 by Ghaturle, Ashish Daga and Tushar Makkar, the US-headquartered startup develops autonomous robotics for construction work. It aims to address widespread labour shortages in the construction sector and claims its robots can work 3X faster than humans.

Origin’s OG-1 Robot and Technology

Origin’s flagship robot, OG-1, can automatically perform wall-finishing tasks such as applying compound, sanding and priming. The startup said its robots have already been deployed at construction sites in New York.

The company added that its robots are also being deployed across commercial spaces, apartments, data centers, hotels and warehouses.

OG-1 is powered by a proprietary foundation model that Origin calls a construction action model. The model integrates a reasoning system to plan complex sub-tasks, an action policy to enable autonomous navigation and a controller that supports feedback-driven movement.

Origin Targets 150 Robot Deployments by 2027

Origin plans to deploy 150 robots by the end of 2027. It is also exploring additional pilots in Germany, Sweden, France and Saudi Arabia.

The startup said Zacua Ventures will support its expansion plans through its network of contractors, developers and manufacturers.

With the latest fundraise, Origin is targeting the global construction robotics sector, which is projected to become a $12 Bn opportunity by 2036.

In India, startups such as Pace Robotics and Flo Mobility are also raising funds to expand their presence in the growing construction robotics sector.
