Amazon, Meesho, Eternal, Swiggy, Zepto launch Digital Commerce Coalition
Major digital commerce companies including Amazon, Meesho, Eternal (formerly Zomato), Swiggy, and Zepto have jointly launched the Digital Commerce Coalition, a new industry-led body aimed at supporting the growth and development of India’s digital commerce ecosystem.
The coalition will focus on key areas such as consumer trust, responsible innovation, economic inclusion, and the long-term sustainability of the digital economy.
According to a statement released on Monday, the coalition will serve as a platform for industry dialogue, policy engagement, research, and knowledge sharing. It will also work on issues related to customer experience, entrepreneurship, small business growth, supply chain development, and delivery partner welfare.
The initiative comes at a time when India’s digital commerce sector is witnessing rapid expansion, driven by increasing internet penetration, rising adoption in Tier II and Tier III cities, evolving business models, and growing participation from businesses across sectors.
Public policy advisory firm Koan Advisory Group has been appointed as the coalition’s secretariat and will support its research, policy engagement, and stakeholder outreach efforts.
“Digital commerce is making everyday consumption more convenient while also enabling new avenues of livelihood and entrepreneurship for millions,” said Dr. Jaskiran Bedi, Head of Public Policy at Eternal.
Prachi Bhuchar, Head of Public Policy at Meesho, said digital commerce has played a significant role in creating entrepreneurship opportunities, particularly for small businesses and underserved markets across the country.
Rachit Ranjan, Chief Policy Officer at Zepto, noted that greater industry collaboration can help address challenges related to MSME participation, supply chain efficiency, and consumer trust.
Notably, Flipkart is not currently listed among the founding members of the coalition.
The Digital Commerce Coalition joins a growing ecosystem of industry advocacy groups in India’s technology sector. Organisations such as the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF), and Startup Policy Forum (SPF) already engage with policymakers on technology and internet-related issues. However, the newly formed coalition is dedicated exclusively to digital commerce and aims to address sector-specific priorities through collaboration among leading ecommerce and quick-commerce platforms.
