Royal Enfield eyes ₹2,500 crore Andhra Pradesh expansion

Royal Enfield is planning a major manufacturing expansion with the acquisition of land in Andhra Pradesh for a proposed greenfield production facility. The new plant is expected to come up in Tada, near Tirupati, with a planned investment of around ₹2,500 crore.

The proposal, subject to approval from the board of Eicher Motors, will be implemented in phases, depending on market demand and evolving business conditions. The move follows sustained growth for Royal Enfield across both domestic and international markets.

Capacity expansion aligned with demand

Royal Enfield currently operates four manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu, with a combined annual production capacity of about 14.6 lakh motorcycles. The company indicated that this capacity is nearing full utilisation.

In February 2026, it had announced an additional investment of ₹958 crore to expand capacity at its Cheyyar plant in Tamil Nadu. This expansion is expected to take the company’s total production capacity to 20 lakh units annually.

B Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and CEO of Royal Enfield, said the proposed Andhra Pradesh facility will support the company’s next phase of growth while strengthening its manufacturing footprint in southern India. He added that the strategy remains focused on staying close to its rider community while scaling operations to meet rising demand.

Andhra Pradesh strengthens industrial push

The proposed investment is also set to deepen Royal Enfield’s presence in Andhra Pradesh, where it already operates more than 100 retail and service outlets. The company said its current operations in the state support over 1,200 direct and indirect jobs.

Globally, Royal Enfield has been expanding its manufacturing and assembly footprint through CKD facilities in Bangladesh, Nepal, Brazil, Thailand, Argentina, and Colombia. It also operates technical centres in Chennai and Bruntingthorpe in the United Kingdom.

In FY26, the company crossed 1.2 million motorcycle sales, marking its second consecutive year of selling over one million units. It also ranked highest in two-wheeler initial quality in the 2025 J.D. Power India study and secured the top position in the FADA Dealer Satisfaction Survey.

Additionally, Royal Enfield was ranked third among the world’s strongest automobile brands in the Brand Finance Automotive Industry 2026 report.
