Google Cloud Appoints Amit Kumar Interim Head of India Operations
Google Cloud has appointed Amit Kumar as the interim head of its India operations following the departure of Sashikumar Sreedharan, who is leaving the company to pursue an external opportunity.
The leadership transition was announced by Karan Bajwa, President, Asia Pacific at Google Cloud. Bajwa said the company’s momentum in India remains strong, driven by growth in business and artificial intelligence (AI).
Sreedharan had been serving as Managing Director of Google Cloud India since July 2025. Before taking charge of the India business, he served as Chief Operating Officer for Google Cloud’s Asia Pacific region for around two years. He had been with Google Cloud for about three years.
Kumar, who has been with Google Cloud for more than five years, will take over the India leadership role on an interim basis. He currently serves as Managing Director of the company’s Digital Natives business in India, where he works with digital native companies and startups.
Kumar joined Google Cloud in March 2021 as a Sales Director and has spent nearly a year leading its Digital Natives business.
Before joining Google Cloud, Kumar was Country Sales Manager for Enterprise and Education at Apple India. He also held a leadership role at IBM and spent more than 13 years at Microsoft across product, enterprise sales and partner focused roles. Earlier in his career, he worked with Tata Telecom.
Announcing the transition, Bajwa said Google Cloud would remain focused on building on its momentum in India, adding that the opportunity for its customers and partners in the country has never been bigger.
Google Cloud’s India Leadership Transition
The leadership change comes as India emerges as a key market for cloud and AI adoption, with Google Cloud competing for enterprise and startup customers alongside Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
Sreedharan’s exit also comes amid developments in India’s AI ecosystem. According to a Times of India report, Sreedharan is set to join homegrown AI unicorn Sarvam AI as President and Chief Business Officer.
Kumar’s interim appointment places an executive with experience across enterprise sales, digital native businesses and technology companies at the helm of Google Cloud’s India operations as the company looks to sustain growth in cloud and AI.
