VLCC Raises Rs 110 Crore From BlackSoil Capital to Expand Beauty and Wellness Business
Indian beauty and wellness firm VLCC has raised Rs 110 crore from BlackSoil Capital to support the expansion of its beauty, wellness and personal care businesses.
The company said the funding will be used for ongoing business requirements and growth opportunities, including strengthening its operating platform and expanding its businesses and subsidiaries.
VLCC CEO Deepak Taluja said the financing will support new product launches and the expansion of the company’s store network.
“This financing will enable us to pursue our growth plans across our businesses, including new product introduction and store network expansion,” Taluja said.
He added that VLCC will continue to focus on improving customer experience and expanding its reach as demand for organised beauty and wellness services and products grows.
VLCC’s Business and Operations
Founded in 1989, VLCC operates across beauty and wellness services, personal care products and vocational education.
The company claims its operations span 310 locations across 139 cities, covering India and overseas markets in South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Its portfolio includes the VLCC personal care business, men’s grooming brand Ustraa and the VLCC Institute of Beauty & Nutrition.
Global investment firm Carlyle announced its acquisition of a majority stake in VLCC in January 2023. The company remains backed by Carlyle.

Ankur Bansal, managing director of BlackSoil, said VLCC was well placed to benefit from growth in India’s beauty and wellness industry.
“The company has built a strong operating platform and is well-positioned to capitalise on the significant growth opportunity within India’s expanding beauty and wellness industry,” Bansal said.
Established in 2016, BlackSoil is an alternative credit platform. The company said it has assets under management of $275 million and provides financing to growing businesses across short- and long-term capital requirements.
