NuSynth Technologies Raises Rs 36.5 Crore in Seed Funding Led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC
Bengaluru-based chemical process innovation startup NuSynth Technologies has raised Rs 36.5 crore, around $4 million, in a seed funding round co-led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC.
The startup is developing a platform to redesign chemical synthesis processes by evaluating raw materials, reaction pathways and process economics. Its approach aims to identify alternative synthesis routes that can improve cost, yield, safety, sustainability and scalability.
NuSynth uses predictive synthesis models and an AI engine that processes experimental data to inform subsequent research cycles. According to the company, its platform is designed to reduce the time required for chemical research and development by using data from previous experiments to guide future research.
The startup is initially focusing on pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals. It plans to develop proprietary chemical processes for commercial applications across multiple chemistry-led sectors.
The fresh capital will be used to develop the company’s research and development and technology capabilities, build an initial portfolio of proprietary processes, strengthen scale-up capabilities and expand the team.
NuSynth was founded by Poorvank Purohit, former MD and CEO of Solara Active Pharma Sciences, and Dr Ramesha A R, a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Washington.
The founding team also includes Abhishek Deo and Dipak Bajaj, who have worked with companies such as Zetwerk, Mstack, Ola, JPMorgan, BlackBuck and SUN Mobility.
The company’s platform focuses on using experimental data and predictive models to inform chemical research and develop alternative synthesis routes for commercial applications.
